This Longmorn from 1974, bottled from sherry wood by R.W. Duthie for Samaroli in 1988, holds a special place in the celebration of Samaroli's 20th anniversary. Longmorn, a renowned Speyside distillery, has been a vital component in numerous blends over the years. While its distillery bottlings began emerging in the 1980s, it wasn't a common sight until the relaunch of the 15-year-old expression in 1993. Despite its importance in blends, Longmorn has maintained a strong presence in the independent bottling scene, particularly in Japan where it has garnered a cult following.
Samaroli, Italy's esteemed independent bottler, crafted this release to mark their 20th anniversary. Silvano Samaroli, the founder, is celebrated for his impeccable taste in single-cask whiskies and an eye for aesthetics, evident in the series featuring his elegant calligraphy. Although Silvano passed away in 2017, Samaroli continues its legacy under Antonio Bleve, who upholds the tradition of high-quality releases. This Longmorn from 1974 stands as a testament to both the excellence of the distillery and the visionary approach of Samaroli in the world of Scotch whisky.
